Two words-- Strawberry. Festival.
Think of the biggest parade and carnival your town puts on. Now times it by seven. Yeah-- Buckhannon.
Strawberry Festival lasts eight days. Saturday to the following Sunday. And the town just about shuts down the last three days. It is cuh-razy! People come from around the world to be apart of and enjoy this festival. Like the Oktoberfest, but more. I never knew there could be SO MANY PEOPLE! And everyone says it's been a slow year. There are parades every other day, and kids get out of school for this shindig. The crowning parade usually lasts five hours, if not more, and Pardi (party) Gras is nuts- every one packed like sardines, shoulder to shoulder. And it's so loud!
Man, I loved every minute of it! Well, except when it got so hot that my face decided to explode. Had the worst bloody nose of my life (both nostrils, lots and lots and lots of blood). Spent half an hour in a port-a-potty, trying to decide if my brain was hemorrhaging or not.) Perks of getting heat sick, you know? Keeping a pack of Gatorade in the car from now on. Thank you, McDonald's for providing orange juice #yourablessing
We spent the few hours we could at Pardi Gras with the Gregory's, and just happened to meet loads of their family, wink wink. Shout out to Bro Gregory for beingan awesome member missionary!! Drank the best lemonade ever, and the most powdered sugared funnel cake of my life. Met Batman. Batman bore testimony on letting your emotions go, not bottling them up inside. It was gospel. Ogled over the handcrafted Batmobile he made himself! Got pics with Batman to make both my brothers jealous. I may or may not have squealed in delight....
We also had Zone Conference. President Salisbury will most definitely be an apostle someday. Someday soon.
We had a good week, filled with craziness and blessed opportunities. Been drawing near to the Savior every day, in every way. I love Him so dearly, and know that His hand is very present in my life.
