Hokies at Hogwarts; 2017.July.10

Hello, and welcome to Sister Sierra Peacock's wild and wonderful world of West Virginia and Virginia! This program brought to you by Preparation Day, where anything can happen. *musical chime*

Wednesday was awesome; we emailed our families because the libraries were closed the 3rd and 4th for the holiday. I love my family! Thank you to all who write me and include me in your personal lives. You all rock, by the way. We had a major thunderstorm Wednesday evening around 7pm. Luckily we were in our apartment at the time. Seems like God knew the storm was coming, so He rearranged our plans so we'd be safe :) I love Heavenly Father, He rocks too.

Thursday we went on exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders. I was with Sister Gardner for 24 hours, and I learned sooooo much! I've always had anxiety every time I knock on a door, but she made it so conversational and natural. I tried to just start a conversation with people, like she did and it worked!!!! I am so stoked to knock on more doors. I mean, it still makes me anxious, but more at ease about it now. I just love being a missionary :)

Friday... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MAKENA AND LIZZY, my awesome sisters! And y'all never guess... Lizzy got her Hogwarts letter! I am so stoked for her! I can't remember when she goes, but I'll be sending her some historical records ( a seven book volume) in oder to prep her for life as a witch in Great Britain. Unfortunately, my Hogwarts letter came a few years too late. The Doctor found it floating in time and space, so... Sister Bingham and I also went on a little unplanned coal mine excursion. WV and VA are big mining industries, and we kind of found a closed coal mine. Don't worry, we didn't actually go in the mines, but we went on a mini hike around the mines and saw historical sights. Unexpected, but fun nonetheless :)

Saturday I really studied the Plan of Happiness Heavenly Father created for us so we can achieve salvation and be with Him again. Kind of blew my mind. Read some boss scriptures and fell in love with the Bible all over again. I miss all my novels, and can't wait to be in a bookstore again, but right now, my favorite binding is my quad, and my favorite author is God :) Man, I sound like Dr. Seuss...

Sunday was awesome. Plain and simple. It rocked. Our recent convert, Brother Rubio, passed the sacrament for the first time and gave a talk in english!!! He just took his big english tests on Saturday and he found out soon if he passed so he can apply for colleges in America. He goes back to Colombia on the fifteenth, but he's already got things set up with his bishop there. Miracles!!!!

Today we went to Mountain Lake Lodge, where the film "Dirty Dancing" took place. Sister Bingham loves that movie, so of course we had to go. It's only 20 minutes away, and a member took us. We took some photos and reenacted the lift scene from the lake. We tried, we really did. I talked my  companion, Sister Bingham, through how lifts are done, but because neither of us has actually lifted or been lifted before, it was all theoretical... But it felt good to try, haha. We went on a hike up to Bald Knob, and the view was breathtaking!!! We could see for miles and miles. The wind through the trees felt like ocean spray (without the saltwater).

I found something quite interesting while studying the scriptures yesterday. In Moses 6:59-60, the words "water," "Spirit," and "blood" are mentioned several times, and are all tied together. I read those two verses over and over again, and then the Holy Ghost smacked me upside the head, and I learned something new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, when we are born into this life, there is a lot of blood and amniotic fluid(water) and our spirits are brand-new. The next time we are born, baptism that is, we are immersed in water and given the gift of the Holy Spirit, becoming cleansed through the blood of Christ. Next, every week we are born again, when we drink the water/blood of Jesus Christ as a part of the sacrament, and are promised to have His spirit with us. MIND BLOWN!!! I am continuing to study it, and related scriptures. I feel like my vision just expanded and I am seeing a new color for the first time!!

All in all. The CHURCH IS TRUE!!!!!!!!!!
